Swallow Prompt is a device designed to assist individuals facing challenges in managing excessive saliva buildup, particularly those with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke, Motor Neuron Disease (MND), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Multiple Sclerosis, and Cerebral Palsy. The device emits vibrations or beeps at predetermined intervals to serve as reminders for the user to swallow, thereby helping to prevent excessive saliva accumulation.

An option is available for use on the Apple Watch, offering a more discreet form of reminder for users.

A study published in the International Journal of Language and Communication Disorders in 2001 demonstrated that the use of a swallow reminder significantly improved saliva management in individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. The research titled “Drooling in Parkinson’s disease: a novel speech and language therapy intervention” (Int J Lang Commun Disord. 2001;36 Suppl:282-7) by Marks et al. supports the clinical relevance of devices like Swallow Prompt.

Swallow Prompt can be conveniently used during regular device operation, excluding phone calls, and can function when the device is in standby mode (screen off) to conserve battery life.
